SALZBURG (9th February 2011). – In just one month Salzburg Exhibition Centre is to become the centre of attention in the city of Mozart as far as Alpine Lifestyle is concerned. From the 4th – 6th March 2011 the spring edition of the ‘Tracht & Country’ fair will be attracting buyers, traders and trend scouts from all over the world. The spring Tracht & Country trade fair is organised by Reed Exhibitions Messe Salzburg and is the leading international fair in this fashion sector, as the world’s only concentrated and representative showcase of the Tracht fashion sector. The show features all the latest collections in Tracht styles, country house looks, knitwear and coarse wool goods, designer Tracht fashions, accessories, leather and fur clothing, and natural textiles for the coming autumn and winter seasons.
‘Those who recently enjoyed the pre-show event, the ‘Tracht & Country Premiere’, saw an impressive display of Tracht fashions while experiencing the distinctly positive mood within the industry. We are looking to continue in this vein at the spring ‘Tracht & Country’ when we play host to trade visitors from all over the world’, explained Director Johann Jungreithmair, CEO of Reed Exhibitions Messe Salzburg. Moreover, the organisers are delighted to announce that a capacity record has been broken. ‘Around 230 have signed up for the event. This is an impressive reflection of the current upsurge of activity in the sector’, confirmed Reed Exhibitions Messe Salzburg’s man responsible for trade fair themes, Gernot Blaikner.
A creative workshop and product showcase in an alpine atmosphere‘Tracht & Country’ Exhibition Manager, Wilfried Antlinger (Mag.), is delighted to report continued interest in Tracht. ‘This year we are looking forward to welcoming several new exhibitors in Salzburg, and both young designers and traditional companies will be represented at the event. Not only is the spring ‘Tracht & Country’ the world’s leading showcase of Alpine styles; it’s also a creative workshop, which makes it a ‘must’ for the entire sector’. During the three days of the show there will be buyers from all over Europe, as well as from the USA and Canada. On the one hand it has become obvious how important a trade fair venue at the heart of Austria is; and on the other, Salzburg is clearly the perfect setting for the Tracht theme. He continued, ‘There is a strong tradition of Tracht clothing here and it’s also very popular among younger people’.
Innovation on the catwalk and handicrafts in the Tracht villageThe traditional purposes of Tracht clothing and the many modern interpretations of the theme are in no way mutually exclusive, something proven by the immense variety available at the ‘Tracht & Country’ spring show. During the three days of the show the event serves as a stage for the next generations of designers and their fashions. Every day at 11 am and 2 pm manufacturers and designers parade their latest collections, trends and style features in hall 4. The ‘Alpine Lifestyle Centre’ in hall 4 also highlights the phenomenon of young design discovering and conquering the world of Tracht. This creative stage benefits ambitious newcomers and trendsetters as they present their own personal interpretations of Tracht. The Tracht village in hall 6 spotlights the more traditional skills of Tracht manufacture featuring many styles and techniques of embroidery, yarn spinning, weaving and the making of rosaries. Another feature immensely popular among all sectors of the Tracht population is the get-together held on the first evening of the trade fair. This year’s theme is ‘Come dancing in Tracht’.
